On her second visit to Dundee and District Philatelic Society Susan Taylor FRPSL, a member of Guildford & District PS, gave an interesting and informative insight into the development of the Postal System in Trinidad & Tobago. Members were treated to a slide presentation before looking at her display that included examples of early stamps, letters, postcards and the development of cancellations. Wartime examples included the use of Red Cross stamps, slogans and censored mail - even one being sent to the Archbishop.

Visit from Lothian Philatelic Group

12th March 2026

Tonight we were visited by four members of Lothian Philatelic Group who provided 4 wonderful displays as follows:
First up was Steve Cowles who provided a very interesting display of the 'Baltics' which covered the stamps and postal history of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Next up was Stephen Weir who provided a display of the Allied Occupation of Germany "Russian Zones".
In the second half Richard Squires started off with a display of Scientists providing details of what their achievements were. To finish off the evening Bill Torrance provided a display of Aerograms from both GB and the Channel Islands.

Brian Dow (Lanarkshire Philatelic Society) - 'Norway'

Tonight we had a zoom meeting and Brian Dow entertained us with a wonderful display of stamps and postal history from Norway. Brian began with stampless covers and proceeded onto the famous posthorn stamps, travelling through the years up to the current day. Included in the display were a number of censored war covers and some feldpost covers. Brian finished up with a number of beautiful animal stamps.

Tonight we had our annual Competition Night. Competitons between members were held in 4 categories and there were a wide range of topics on show in each category.

James Podger (Royal Philatelic Society London) - 'Collecting Auction Catalogues'

22nd January 2026

Tonight we had a zoom meeting and James Podger (Royal Philatelic Society London) entertained us with an excellent display entitled "Collecting Auction Catalogues".

James began his display by explaining how auction catalogues can play ann important role for collectors in ascertaining what is available within the marketplace for the area that they collect and what prices the pieces are trading for. James provided examples of auction acatlogues and other items from his own personal collection of the Cayman Islands.

Members' participation night "The 1940s"

8th January 2026

Tonight we had a Members Night and the Topic was "The 1940's". A number of members took part displaying a wide range of material relating to the 1940's.

A number of topics were covered and the displays covered a significant number of countries around the world and which included stamps, covers, revenue documents, airmail and postcards.

DDPS Night: "1 Sheet Competition / Recent Acquisitions"

Tonight we had a Members Night which included the One-Sheet Competition and members displayed some of their recent acquisitions

A number of members participated displaying a wide variety of stamps from a range of different countries. Jackie Malcolm won the Rosebowl for her entry of "Ukrainian stamps based on a painting by Banksie"

John Jackson (Society of Postal Historians) - 'Netherlands - 1940 Konijnenburg issue'

27th November 2025

Tonight John Jackson from the Society of Postal Historians treated us to an outstanding and informative display entitled "Netherlands - 1940 Konijnenburg issue".

This display included scarce covers,lettercards and postcards printed but not issued until the war ended. He also explained the use of PO Box 601 (Amsterdam until the invasion) and PO Box 506 (Lisbon) organised by Thomas Cook to get mail in and out of the occupied countries. He continued with the Dutch East Indies and the Japanese invasion showing Red Cross Mail, POW Cards and the Burma Railway.

In a reprise of a display Ron showed some time ago now he entertained us with a fascinating display of Commerce in the Post showing how much fun and information can be had from commercial mail.

Susan Taylor FRPSL "The Lady McLeod"

In the first of the society's Zoom meetings for this year Susan Taylor provided a display titled "The Lady McLeod". Susan provided a very entertaining display about the Lady McLeod which was a paddle steamer sailing regularly between Port of Spain and the Island of Trinidad.

Visit from Kirkcaldy Stamp & Postcard Club

9th October 2025

Tonight we had a visit from Martin Kirkbride and Reg Campbell of Kirkcaldy Stamp & Postcard Club.

Reg Campbell began the evening with a display of Victorian Postal History which included a variety of different items on display with a number of postcards from Rothesay and the ferries which ran there. Martin Kirkbride provided a wonderful display of Scottish Maltese Crosses and Postal History relating to Kirkcudbrightshire, finishing with some postal history of Cupar.

President's Night: "Canada & GB Stamps KGV-KGVI"

25th September 2025

In the third of our President's displays the President Norman Kelso began the new session with a display entitlad "Canada and GB Stamps KGV-KGVI".

In the first half of his display Norrie showed stamps from Canada, Newfoundland and GB for the reign of KGV starting with the iconic 'Admiral' issue of Canada and finishing with part of the GB KGV issues. The second half of the display started with the remainder of the GB KGV stamps and then all the issues for KGVI from Canada, Newfoundland and GB.
